More Than 1,200 Students Gearing Up for Goodyear's Engineering Career Day

AKRON, OH--April 3, 2013: More than 1,200 students, parents and teachers from across the Akron/Cleveland area will visit Firestone High School on April 20, for the 13th annual Goodyear Engineering Career Day. During this competition, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company will give away more than $30,000 in grant awards and scholarship money to students and teachers from local high schools and middle schools.

Who: You will have the opportunity to interact withgroups ofstudents, parents, teachers and business leaders who will be attending this event. Several universities, along with more than 20 Akron/Cleveland-area corporations will have representatives present for an informational fair, panel discussions and hands-on demonstrations to help students learn about careers in engineering.

What: Students will rotate through a series of panel presentations and demonstrations from local organizations, which include a hands-on competition requiring use of engineering acumen, all culminating in an end-of-day "STEM challenge," as the top teams compete for points. The day will end with the announcement of scholarship and grant winners made by Joseph Zekoski, Goodyear's Interim Chief Technical Officer.

When: Saturday, April 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Panel presentations and hands-on activity will be held from 9:20 a.m. - 1:20 p.m.
STEM challenge will begin at 1:25 p.m. with closing ceremony to follow from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
