SLOUGH, UNITED KINGDOM – June 4, 2013: New Alfa buyers can still take advantage of up to three years’ free Congestion Charge driving if they register their sub-100g/km CO2 Alfa with the scheme before June 28.

From 1 July 2013, the CO2 output level required for free entry into the London Congestion Charge zone will drop from 100g/km to 75g/km, removing the majority of internal combustion engines from exemption.

Vehicles either currently registered or vehicles registered before June 28, will benefit from a three-year transition period which will run until June 2016.

Alfa Romeo currently has two MiTo models emitting less than 99g/km – the 1.3 JTDM-2 85 bhp diesel and the 875cc TB TwinAir 85 bhp petrol. Special editions of these currently available include the Alfa MiTo Live and MiTo Sprint, both fitted with the multi-award-winning TwinAir engine. The sub-100g/km models also currently qualify for free VED.

Drivers travelling into the Congestion Zone on a daily basis could save up to £2520 annually – or £7,560 over three years – by registering their car before the new exemption rules kick in.

Damien Dally, Head of Brand, Alfa Romeo UK said; “Despite the changes, Alfa buyers can still benefit from Congestion Charge exemption and save more than £7,500 over three years if they register before 28 June. Alfa’s sub-100g/km MiTo range combines fun performance with frugal efficiency wrapped up in one of the safest – and most stylish – models in the class.’

Currently eligible for Congestion Charge exemption, the new Alfa MiTo Live has been created for drivers who love to stay connected and entertained on the move. It comes fitted with a high fidelity BOSE® sound system and Pioneer’s innovative AppRadio™ system which lets users connect and access their smartphone’s apps through a seven-inch multi-touch screen.

Aimed at 17-25 year old drivers, the Alfa MiTo Live, which is insurance group 9, will also be offered with optional Marmalade telematics based cover, offering significant insurance premium savings reducing for young drivers.

The Alfa MiTo range starts from £12,500 OTR for the 1.4 8v 78 bhp Progression.
