Military Employees Make up Nearly 10% of Enterprise's U.S. Workforce; Company on Track to Hire Nearly 2,000 Veterans

ST. LOUIS--Aug. 15, 2013: U.S. Veterans Magazine has named Enterprise Holdings a Top Veteran-Friendly Company in recognition of its continued commitment to hiring men and women who have served in America's armed forces. During the most recent fiscal year, ending July 2013, more than 1,600 military veterans and reservists launched new careers with Enterprise Holdings – which owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands – and serves over 50 U.S. military bases.

"We believe there's no better way to thank our veterans and reservists than to give them new opportunities to lead and serve," said Pam Nicholson, president and CEO of Enterprise Holdings. "Their leadership abilities transpire into the workplace and allow them to consistently provide superior customer service every day."

Company founder, Jack Taylor, is a World War II veteran who served as a navy pilot, earning two Distinguished Flying Crosses. The company is named after the aircraft carrier Taylor was stationed on, the USS Enterprise, the most decorated warship in U.S. military history.

Enterprise Holdings earned its place on the magazine's list through its exceptional efforts to recruit and retain employees with military experience. Enterprise pays the salary differential for employees on active duty, so they continue to receive full pay throughout the duration of their service. Enterprise expects to add up to 2,000 military employees in the 2013 calendar year.

Enterprise's military recruitment efforts are supported through its membership in the 100,000 Jobs Mission and Joining Forces Travel Industry Coalition in connection with the White House Joining Forces Initiative, as well as by maintaining an active presence at military hiring fairs throughout the country. Collectively, hiring commitments from companies like Enterprise are expected to provide jobs or training for more than 700,000 veterans or military spouses by 2018.

Enterprise has been widely recognized for its ongoing support for veterans and reservists, who comprise nearly 10 percent of Enterprise's total U.S. workforce. Most recently, the company was designated a 2013 Military Friendly EmployerŽ by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs.

In 2012, Enterprise was honored for the second time as a Secretary of Defense Freedom Award Nominee, the highest recognition given by the Department of Defense to employers for supporting employees who serve in the National Guard or Reserve. Enterprise originally received the award in 2005.

The company was also recognized in 2012 by the Vice Admiral, Chief of Naval Reserve, for the company's support of Sailors in the Naval Reserve, and was one of only two Missouri companies to receive one of the first Extraordinary Employer Support Awards from the Missouri Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

U.S. Veterans Magazine polled hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies for its evaluations, compiling its Best of the Best List for Top Veteran-Friendly Companies from market research, independent research, diversity conference participation and survey responses.
