Fast Park Teams Up to Fight Hunger

CINCINNATI--Oct 8, 2013: In support of Hunger Action Month, Fast Park, an offsite airport parking company with 17 facilities in 13 markets, collected a total of 9,418 pounds of food and donated $10,068 - nearly 60 percent more than prior year totals.

Local collections took place at Fast Park facilities across the country including Albuquerque, Austin, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Memphis, Milwaukee, Orlando, Raleigh and Tucson. All donations in those markets benefited food banks that are members of Feeding America (the largest food bank network in the country). Additionally, the Miami facility's efforts benefited the Salvation Army Miami.

As in years past, Fast Park donated one dollar for every pound of nonperishable food donated by customers. Held from September 3 through September 26, the campaign marked the sixth annual canned food drive for Fast Park.

"It is important to Fast Park that we support the communities in which we live and work," said Melanie Chavez, Executive Vice President of Construction and Branding at Fast Park. "In the past, each of our facilities managed its own charitable giving. Six years ago, we decided to combine activities and have all facilities participate in one big event to make a greater impact. This food drive has grown larger than any of us could have expected - in six years we've now donated nearly 30,000 pounds of food and more than $27,000. We're extremely proud of what we've been able to accomplish, especially since we surpassed last year's totals by nearly 60 percent. That's amazing!"

In a new twist, Fast Park employees competed to see which facility could collect the most. This year the Milwaukee FastPark & Relax took the prize with 2,629 pounds of food. Because the Milwaukee facility collected the most, its charity, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, will receive an additional $1,000 donation from Fast Park.
