ST. LOUIS--Nov. 7, 2013: The Enterprise Holdings Foundation today announced a $250,000 donation to the Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides free or no-cost lodging to the families of veterans receiving treatment at military medical centers. The Enterprise Holdings Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the company that owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands. The donation will be used for the operations and addition of comfort homes on the grounds of major military and Veteran's Affairs (VA) medical centers.

"Supporting military members and their families has been a part of our company's DNA since it was founded more than five decades ago," said Carolyn Kindle, vice president and executive director of the Enterprise Holdings Foundation. "Our contribution to Fisher House is just one way for us to thank our nation's heroes. We'll continue to reach out to the military community by providing high-level services to military agencies, volunteering our time and enlisting ex-service members and reservists to join our ranks."

Enterprise is named after the USS Enterprise, which is one of the aircraft carriers company founder Jack Taylor served on as a Navy pilot during World War II. It is widely recognized as the most decorated warship in U.S. military history.

"This generous donation from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation will help many families to be close to their hospitalized service members at a very stressful time," said Dave Coker, president, Fisher House Foundation. "Enterprise, like Fisher House, is an organization that clearly understands the importance of assisting our military veterans and reservists after they return home. We're very thankful for their support of our organization."

The company has been recognized for its ongoing support of veterans and reservists. Former service members currently make up nearly 10 percent of the company's total U.S. workforce. Last year alone, more than 1,600 military veterans and reservists launched new careers with Enterprise Holdings – which serves more than 50 U.S. military bases.

Enterprise Holdings' military recruitment efforts are supported through its membership in the 100,000 Jobs Mission and Joining Forces Travel Industry Coalition in connection with the White House Joining Forces Initiative, as well as by the company's active presence at military hiring fairs throughout the country. U.S. Veterans Magazine recently named Enterprise Holdings a Top Veteran-Friendly Company in recognition of its continued commitment to hiring men and women who have served in America's armed forces. The company was also designated a 2013 Military Friendly EmployerŽ by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs.
