AAA: IL/IN Gas Prices on the Rise after Dropping to Lowest Levels since 2009

AURORA, IL -- February 6, 2015: Illinois and Indiana gas prices are back on the rise after dropping to their lowest levels since 2009. The Illinois average price for an unleaded gallon of gasoline is $2.30, up $.18 from a month ago, but still down from $3.37 a year ago. In Indiana, the average price is $2.32, up $.40 from a month ago but still down from last year’s price of $3.28. Nationally, gas prices declined a record 123 consecutive days to $2.03 per gallon before increasing last week for the first time since September 25. The national average price is currently $2.15 per gallon.

“It is typical to see gas prices increase this time of year due to refinery issues, yet hopefully the consumer impact will be less problematic given how low prices are today.”

The average price for January in Illinois was $2.07, a decrease of $.40 from the previous month and down $1.32 from the previous year. In northern Indiana in January, the average price was $1.94 which was $.39 lower than last month and $1.33 less than last year.

In Cook County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.29, which is down $.28 from last month and $1.28 lower than last year’s price-per-gallon.

In DuPage County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.12 per gallon, which is a $.32 decrease from December and down $1.31 from last year.

In Kane County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.10 per gallon, which is down $.34 compared to last month and $1.32 lower than January 2014’s price.

In Lake County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.10 per gallon, which is $.36 lower than last month and $1.30 lower than last year’s price.

In McHenry County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.05 per gallon, which is $.39 lower than last month’s average and $1.38 lower than January 2014’s price.

In Will County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.10 per gallon, which is $.32 lower compared to last month and $1.29 lower compared to last year.

In Champaign County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.98 per gallon, a decrease of $.28 from December and $1.28 lower than last year.

In McLean County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.94 per gallon, which is $.32 lower than last month and $1.33 lower than last year.

In Peoria County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.94 per gallon, which is down $.32 compared to last month and down $1.36 from January 2014.

In Sangamon County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.91 per gallon, which is $.34 lower than last month and $1.38 lower than last year.

In Winnebago County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.98 per gallon, a decrease of $.51 from December and $1.33 lower than January 2014.

In Allen County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.03 per gallon, which is $.20 lower than last month and $1.27 lower than January 2014’s price.

In Lake County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.94 per gallon, which is down $.41 from December’s average and is down $1.37 from a year ago.

In Porter County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $1.93 per gallon, which is $.31 lower than last month and $1.32 lower than last year.

In St. Joseph County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.03 per gallon, which is $.24 lower compared to last month and $1.30 lower than last year.
