Air Conditioner Clutch Drive Bolt Recall: 2014-2015 Acura MDX

TORRANCE, CA -- June 25, 2015: Approximately 106,000 model-year 2014-2015 MDX vehicles are affected in the U.S. AC clutch drive bolt will be replaced, free of charge Acura will voluntarily recall approximately 106,000 model-year 2014-2015 MDX vehicles in the United States to replace the air conditioner (AC) clutch drive bolt, free of charge. The AC clutch drive bolt may loosen or break, which could cause the AC clutch drive pulley to fall under the vehicle while in motion, potentially presenting a hazard to other vehicles. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue, which was discovered through warranty claims for inoperative air conditioners.

Acura is announcing this recall to encourage all owners who purchased an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Acura. Mailed notification to customers will begin in late-July. In addition, owners of these vehicles can determine if their vehicles require repair by going to recalls.acura.com or by calling (800) 382-2238 and selecting option 4.
