Creating Opportunities to Gain Access to Mobility Solutions

TAMPA, FL -- July 2, 2015: National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA) is partnering with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that provides individuals, families and community volunteers with tools to raise funds to cover the costs of modified vehicles and adaptive equipment.

"Sometimes, the barrier to a automotive mobility solution is gap in funding," said Dave Hubbard, NMEDA CEO. As a non-profit member organization, NMEDA sponsors National Mobility Awareness Month each year in May to raise awareness for mobility and adaptive equipment solutions and by giving away wheelchair accessible vehicles through the Local Heroes contest donated by NMEDA members. "We want to take that one step further by providing resources to those who are interested in holding successful fundraisers," said Hubbard.

With more than 30 years of experience in community-based campaigns, HelpHOPELive partners with individuals to help fundraise financial support for injury-related expenses, including modified vehicles and adaptive equipment. This means the independence and quality of life can be restored for individuals who are in need of mobility solutions. "The partnership with NMEDA will extend the success of National Mobility Awareness Month to all Local Heroes throughout the year as it aims to bridge the gap between what health insurance will pay and what is actually need to live and thrive after a catastrophic injury or illness. The organization has raised over $36 million for injury related expenses and helped improved the quality of life for 900 individuals living with mobility issues," said David Bakelman, HelpHOPELive CEO.
