BYD Electric Buses used at U.S-China Climate Leaders Summit

LOS ANGELES -- Sept. 16, 2015: 400 of the most important leaders in the free world gathered in Los Angeles this week to collaborate on strategies to improve global stewardship and battle man-made factors effecting climate change. "The two most important global powers straddle the Pacific Ocean," said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti at Monday's opening reception. "It is up to the leaders of China and the United States, The Climate Leaders, to drive the solutions that the rest of the world will follow." Featured in the opening video at Tuesday's plenary session was BYD Motors, a California electric vehicle and green-tech leader that has become a point of pride for Los Angeles County.

"BYD is the company that will save the world," said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris, who was instrumental in attracting the company to Lancaster, as well as metropolitan Los Angeles, back in 2011. "Our streets are already quieter, and our air cleaner, with BYD's buses, trucks and cars. However, the economic impact of green-tech is just as significant. Companies like BYD have been instrumental in rebuilding the economies of cities like Lancaster across the nation."

Also in attendance were 7 of BYD's industry leading electric buses. Ranging in length from 23 to 40 feet, and varying from transit to charter coach and luxury configurations the buses were selected to transport the governors, mayors and other dignitaries to offset the carbon footprint of the conference as well as showcase the world changing products that are being produced in Los Angeles county.

BYD's Battery Electric bus employs many advanced technologies developed in-house by a staff of more than 15,000 R&D engineers including the advanced, BYD Iron-Phosphate battery which boasts the only 12-year-battery warranty in the industry. Combined with BYD's proprietary in-wheel hub motors and regenerative braking system, the BYD battery electric bus offers the lowest life cycle cost of ownership. The BYD electric bus delivers a host of operational and environmental benefits for public transit riders, bus operators and residents of the community – it is very quiet and ensures a comfortable ride without vibrations, jerks or the noise associated with the conventional buses and combustion engines. The bus can also drive for more than 155 miles even in heavy city traffic on a single charge. As of August 1st, 2015, BYD bus fleets have completed greater than 71 million miles "in revenue service" and have been evaluated by more than 150 cities in 36 countries around the world. To date, BYD has built and has orders for over 6,000 electric buses globally, making it by far the most popular electric transit vehicle on the planet.
