ATLANTA -- December 14, 2015: Porsche teamed up with Five-time Grand Slam Champion Maria Sharapova to bring a new tennis event to Los Angeles, "Maria Sharapova & Friends, presented by Porsche." The event took place at the UCLA Tennis Center on December 12-13, 2015 and featured Sharapova, along with Former World No. 1 Andy Roddick, World No.4 and 2014 US Open finalist Kei Nishikori, American rising stars Madison Keys and Jack Sock and Britain’s Laura Robson.

"We are excited to partner with our Global Brand Ambassador Maria Sharapova for this engaging tennis event in the United States, Porsche’s most important market," said Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of Porsche Cars North America. "Maria Sharapova is an exceptional athlete. She truly combines superior performance in her sports with power and elegance. These are the exact characteristics that are conveyed in our sports cars."

The new 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera also made its appearance at the tennis tournament this weekend. The 911 Carrera offers an uncompromised timeless design and breathtaking performance. The completely new engine generation featuring twin-turbo technology enhances the driving pleasure of the 911 and provides a 20 hp increase compared to the previous models. The 3.0 liter engine in the standard Carrera now develops 370 hp. Using turbochargers with modified compressor wheels, a model-specific exhaust system, and a different tune for the engine management system, the 911 Carrera S delivers 420 hp from the same displacement.
