Proven to increase safety, figures suggest that autonomous technology in cars will prevent 25,000 serious accidents and save 2,500 lives a year by 2030. There is, however, an ongoing argument against fully self-piloted vehicles. A number of recent mishaps have included Google's self-driving car, which recently collided with a bus at low-speed in California. The suitability of driverless vehicle on the UK's busy and complex system of roadways has also been called into question. Holt Recruitment believes these issues have affirmed the need for a driver to be present at all times to take control when the need arises.
