Bournemouth UK April 14, 2016; With half of new cars being fitted with autonomous technologies, Holt Recruitment, automotive industry experts, address candidate fears over an autonomous future.

The automotive recruitment specialists at Holt Recruitment have been assessing the ongoing trend towards the development of autonomous vehicles. They know that more than half of the UK's new cars are being fitted with sophisticated autonomous technologies and as such they have been analysing the practicalities for a fully autonomous future.

Technologies that are already widespread include autonomous emergency brakes, cruise control that changes speed to maintain a safe distance from the car in front and warning systems that tell drivers if they are about to collide. Proven to increase safety, figures suggest that autonomous technology in cars will prevent 25,000 serious accidents and save 2,500 lives a year by 2030. Holt Recruitment expects these types of technology to be further enhanced as manufacturers scramble for the latest safety gadgets to aid drivers.

There is, however, an ongoing argument against fully self-piloted vehicles. A number of recent mishaps have included Google's self-driving car, which recently collided with a bus at low-speed in California. The suitability of driverless vehicle on the UK's busy and complex system of roadways has also been called into question. Holt Recruitment believes these issues have affirmed the need for a driver to be present at all times to take control when the need arises.

Stuart Holt, Managing Director of Holt Recruitment has said: "It is great to see that new autonomous technology has the potential to introduce major improvements to journeys on UK roads. Many manufacturers are investing in technology that can make a difference for preventing accidents and saving lives. We've been helping companies nationwide source the best employees for well-known brands in the manufacturer, commercial vehicle, fleet, truck and bus markets.''
