15 October 1997
AUTO INDUSTRY'S FINEST ON-STAGE FIRST AT THE SOUTH FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW MIAMI, FL-- Once again, the auto industry's first major exhibition of the season will be the South Florida International Auto Show presented by Barnett Bank. Now in its 27th year, the 10-day show will open Friday, November 7, 1997 and run through Sunday, November 16 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The 1998 line-up of new cars, sport utility vehicles, trucks and accessories will fill more than one-million square feet of exhibit space. Visitors will also get a glimpse of several sparkling examples of the future: the industry's innovative and daring concept cars. "As with most years, we'll be the first 'Class A' event on the auto show circuit again," said James D. Evans, Jr., show chairman. "That adds excitement, offering the first look at most new models. And people from around the Americas flock to the exhibits, because they really love their cars." Exhibits are expected to total more than 100, including those from major manufacturer's designated "Class A," a ranking assigned to those created especially for a show. In addition to approximately 1,000 vehicles from 40 auto makers, the South Florida annual show will offer related exhibits that expand the automotive theme. They include Million Dollar Alley, a display of exotic and one-of-a-kind cars; Memory Lane, which treats the crowd to a room full of classic cars; and Auto Show Mall, presenting an assortment of automotive and home accessories and business-related products. Discount tickets to the 1997 Auto Show will be available at participating new car dealerships, Barnett branches, McDonald's Restaurants and AMC Theaters throughout South Florida. The annual show is sponsored by the South Florida Auto-Truck Dealers Association, which comprises more than 220 new car dealerships.
