Company Plans Announcements On Hybrid-Electric Vehicles And Strategic Alliances GOLDEN, Colo., Dec. 8 -- Former Chrysler Chairman Lee Iacocca will join Unique Mobility Chief Executive Ray Geddes at EVS-14, the International Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exposition in Orlando, December 11-17. Unique Mobility plans several announcements during the conference, Geddes said, including details of its expanding relationship with Iacocca and his new company, EV Global Motors. Iacocca is Unique's largest shareholder and sits on the Company's board. Geddes sits on the board of Los Angeles-based EV Global. Geddes noted that the conference comes on the heels of the Kyoto climate change summit and several recently publicized "breakthroughs" on hybrid- electric vehicles and fuel cell technology. "Alternative fuel vehicles are one way we can address air pollution and global warming problems," Geddes said. "We're going to present an all new Ethos HEV concept car and we'll have other announcements that involve both electric and hybrid-electric vehicle systems." EVS-14 is expected to attract more than 2,000 representatives of the electric vehicle, automobile and electric utility industries as well as government officials, academics, investors and journalists from around the world. The conference, the largest of its kind, will be held at the Walt Disney World Dolphin in Orlando. The conference opens with a parade of electric vehicles through the EPCOT Resort on December 11 and a ride-and-drive for media on press day, December 12. The electric vehicle parade and ride-and-drive sessions will include the Ethos 3 EV, a stylish four-passenger commuter car designed by Italy's Pininfarina. The Unique Mobility exhibit will feature the Ethos HEV, a prototype electric scooter, and a 100 horsepower CNG fueled auxiliary power unit for large hybrid-electric vehicles such as transit buses, shuttles and medium duty trucks. Also planned on December 11: a media demonstration at Universal Studios of a new hybrid-electric HMMWV military vehicle equipped with four 100-horsepower UQM(R) electric motors that has twice the acceleration and climbing capability of a conventionally powered "Hummer." The hybrid-electric Hummer, first unveiled last week in Huntsville, Alabama, to an audience of government and military officials, can accelerate from zero to 50 in 8 seconds and climb a 60 degree incline at 17 miles an hour. "It'll run circles around Arnold Schwarzenegger's Hummer," said Geddes. Unique Mobility, Inc. is one of the world's leading developers of energy efficient electric and hybrid electric vehicle systems. It is a Golden, Colorado, based engineering concern and manufacturer of high efficiency permanent magnet motors and controls for automotive, aerospace and industrial applications.
