Gas Prices -- Biggest Jump Since Gulf War, AAA Michigan StatesDEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 4 -- In outstate Michigan, the average price for unleaded self-serve regular gasoline is $1.261 per gallon, up 7.1 cents from last week. This week's price marks the biggest weekly increase since the start of the Gulf War (August 1990) and reflects Michigan's 4-cent gas tax increase which took effect last Friday (Aug. 1), AAA Michigan reports. The price varies between $1.149 and $1.389. In Metro Detroit, gas prices average $1.231 per gallon, up 4.2 cents from last week, varying between $1.159 and $1.319. A survey of outstate marinas shows unleaded gas at $1.638 per gallon, up .5 cent from last week. The price of unleaded gas varies between $1.339 and $2.259. Outstate diesel prices average $1.416 per gallon, down .1 cent from last week, varying from $1.209 and $2.109. Unleaded marina prices average $1.611 per gallon in Metro Detroit, up .7 cent from last week. The range is between $1.399 and $1.799. Metro diesel prices average $1.509, unchanged from last week.
