Top Design Magazine Honors Jaguar XK8MAHWAH, N.J., Aug. 14 -- I.D. Magazine has awarded the new Jaguar XK8 sports car an I.D. Magazine Design Distinction award in the Consumer Product category. The announcement was made in the 1997 I.D. Annual Design Review, which is now on newsstands. The Jaguar was the only automobile chosen by the magazine's panel of design experts. The 1997 XK8, Jaguar's first new sports car in 21 years, received its first honor upon its unveiling at the 1996 Geneva auto show, when Auto Week magazine named it Best in Show. Design experts at the Milan International Competition subsequently named it "L'Automobile piu Bella del Mondo" (The World's Most Beautiful Car) in the sports-car category, and Robb Report chose it as "Car of the Year." The I.D. Magazine jurors cited the XK8 for its classic sports-car design and blend of innovation and tradition. I.D. Magazine, winner of the 1995 and 1997 National Magazine Award for General Excellence, is one of America's leading publications on the art, business and culture of design. SOURCE Jaguar
