AAA Washington Announces Labor Day Gas PricesBELLEVUE, Wash., Aug. 25 -- Look out highways and airports -- Labor Day travelers are headed your way in record numbers as an estimated 34 million Americans expect to take a trip of 100 miles or more during the upcoming holiday, according to nationwide reports from AAA clubs. Popular local destinations include the Washington and Oregon coast, lake and mountain resorts, and campgrounds around the state. Vancouver and Victoria B.C., the Columbia River area and Lake Chelan are favored spots. Labor Day travelers will find the price of gasoline up four cents since late June. However, prices are 8.4 cents less than last year. Washington fuel prices, based on a poll of 130 service stations in western and central areas, currently average $1.302 for self-serve regular unleaded gasoline. The national average price per gallon of unleaded self-serve is $1.264, up 1.1 cents from one year ago. AAA Washington is a not-for-profit organization with 13 offices in central and western Washington. The club provides more than 560,000 members with travel, insurance, financial, and auto-related services.
