AAA Foundation Contest Asks Drivers: How Do You Show You're Sorry?WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 -- In response to public concern about rude and aggressive drivers, the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety is holding a contest -- "How do you say you're sorry?" The contest celebrates the launch of the Foundation's newly redesigned web site at http://www.aaafts.org. Contestants have until Oct. 1 to log on and suggest a gesture motorists can use to apologize to another driver. "When someone lets you into a lane you can thank them with a wave," says Christopher Johnson, the AAA Foundation's research analyst and webmaster. "But if you inadvertently cut someone off, how do you say you're sorry?" Winners will receive a high-visibility safety vest. "If you ever have to stop on a freeway at night, you'll want one of these," Johnson says. The AAA Foundation will promote the winning gesture as a way to ease tension between drivers and help prevent minor incidents from turning into "road rage" tragedies. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety is a not-for-profit charitable organization funded by donations from AAA and CAA clubs and members. It is devoted to preventing crashes and saving lives through research and education in the field of traffic safety. SOURCE AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety
