Tenneco Board Declares Fourth Quarter Dividend

    GREENWICH, Conn., Oct. 14 -- Tenneco announced today that its
board of directors has declared a regular fourth quarter dividend of 30 cents
on its common stock.  The dividend is payable on Dec. 9, 1997 to stockholders
of record at the close of business on Nov. 21, 1997.
