BMW Reports October Sales

BMW Shatters 100,000-Unit Sales Ceiling; Year-To-Date Sales Up 15 PercentWOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Nov. 4 -- BMW of North America, Inc. shattered the 100,000 unit sales ceiling last month, reporting year-to-date sales of 103,324, an increase of 15 percent over the same period a year ago. BMW was the first luxury import automaker to accomplish that milestone, which occurred last week. The company also reported October sales of 9,622, compared to 9,944 during the same month last year. Particularly noteworthy were BMW's 5 Series sales, up 33 percent over the same month a year ago. BMW of North America, Inc. and Land Rover North America, Inc. are members of the BMW Group. Consolidated U.S. October sales for the two companies were 11,037 units (BMW: 9,622; Land Rover: 1,415), a 12 percent decrease over last year. Consolidated year-to-date sales were 122,984 vehicles (BMW: 103,324; Land Rover: 19,660), a ten percent increase over last year.
