Acura Announces 1998 Pricing for RL, CL, NSX and SLX ModelsTORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 10 -- Today Acura announced pricing for several of its 1998 models including the 3.5RL luxury flagship sedan, the CL Series of luxury sports coupes, the NSX exotic sports car and the SLX luxury sport utility vehicle. To further enhance the value and prestige of the Acura 3.5RL, the 1998 model features several interior and exterior enhancements including suspension revisions that provide more sporty handling and a distinctive new alloy wheel design with a bright, machined finish. Standard equipment on both models now includes heated front seats and the 225-watt, eight-speaker Acura/Bose(R) audio system. The RL is also available with the satellite-linked in-dash Acura Navigation System. Manufacturer's suggested retail pricing for the 1998 3.5RL is $41,200 (a $200 increase from '97) and $44,000 for the 3.5RL with Premium Package ($0 increase). This represents a 0.1 percent increase based on a sales weighted average. New for 1998, the 2.2CL is replaced by the 2.3CL featuring a larger, more powerful 2.3-liter, 150-horsepower engine. Additional standard features on all CL models include steering wheel-mounted audio system controls; an immobilizer anti-theft system; a woodgrain-trimmed center console; bright machine-finished alloy wheels and the HomeLink Universal Transmitter as standard equipment on the 2.3CL with premium package and all 3.0CL models. Pricing for the 1998 CL Series ranges from $22,310 for the 2.3CL with manual transmission to $26,660 for the 3.0CL with Premium Package (an increase of $200 each) representing a 0.9 percent increase based on a sales weighted average. The hand-built all-aluminum NSX exotic sports cars combines true world class performance with outstanding refinement and sophistication. Manufacturer's suggested retail pricing for the 1998 NSX remains unchanged from 1997 at $84,000 for the NSX and $88,000 for the open-top NSX-T. The new 1998 Acura SLX luxury sport utility vehicle comes fully-appointed and features a new "Torque on Demand" push-button four-wheel drive system; a larger, more powerful 3.5-liter, DOHC V-6 engine, producing 215 horsepower; updated styling with a completely redesigned front end; refined power steering and automatic cruise control systems; and a new AM/FM/Cassette/CD audio system. The SLX sells for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $36,300 -- $2,000 less than last year's Premium Model -- which represents a 4.2 percent sales weighted average decrease. "For 1998, we have made numerous enhancements to the line-up to increase the value and prestige of our vehicles and keep Acura at the forefront of the luxury performance market," said Rich Thomas, Acura executive vice president and general manager. All Acura models are covered by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000-mile bumper- to-bumper limited warranty.
