Chrysler Corporation Sets Price for 1998 Dodge Intrepid

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 18 -- Chrysler Corporation's
Dodge Division announced pricing today for its all-new 1998
Intrepid.
The suggested retail price for a 1998 Dodge Intrepid is $20,235
including destination, an increase of $240 over the 1997 base model. The
1998 Dodge Intrepid ES is priced at $23,015 -- or $445 less than last year's
Intrepid ES model.
"For a vehicle that has been totally redesigned both inside and out, this
pricing reflects tremendous value," said Ray Fisher, General Manager of the
Dodge Division. "With a bold new design, the 1998 Dodge Intrepid delivers
more power, fuel efficiency and interior space at a price that is about the
same as or considerably less than last year's."
The 1998 Dodge Intrepid is an all-new sport sedan that provides an
exhilarating driving experience and enough room to comfortably seat five or
six passengers. The Intrepid reflects the next-generation of cab-forward
design, which results in improved aerodynamics as well as a roomier interior
and larger trunk. A computer designed body structure gives all Intrepids a
more rigid structure and quieter overall ride.
The Intrepid's redesign for 1998 extends far beyond its bold appearance,
starting with two all-new, all-aluminum engines that use regular-grade fuel
and are up to 25 percent more powerful and 10 percent more fuel efficient than
the engines they replace.
The Intrepid is powered by an all-aluminum 2.7-liter, 24-valve,
V-6 engine. Rated at 200 horsepower, it has the highest horsepower-per-liter
rating in its class. The Intrepid ES is powered by an all-aluminum 3.2-liter
V-6 that delivers 225 horsepower. All 1998 Dodge Intrepid ES sedans are
equipped with the AutoStick(R) system, which allows drivers to enjoy the
performance of a manual with the convenience of an automatic.
The 1998 Dodge Intrepid is manufactured at Chrysler Corporation's Bramalea
Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada. The vehicle will go on sale late in the
fourth quarter.
