(MBNA). The 1998 C280 sedan -- retailed by Dreher-Holloway, Inc. in Exeter, New Hampshire -- made Mercedes-Benz history this week as it helped the company shatter the 100,000 annual sales mark in the United States for the first time in its history. Mercedes-Benz threw a party Tuesday at the dealership for Nancy and her family, complete with a three-pointed star (the Mercedes logo) cake and various Mercedes accessories, including a silk scarf and silver key chain. "We at Mercedes-Benz of North America are extremely pleased to present this history-making C-Class sedan to Nancy Casavant and to express our appreciation to her and all of the 100,000 plus customers who have made a commitment to our company and our automobiles this year," said MBNA Vice-President of 0perations, Hal Whiteford. "It is especially rewarding that so many people are recognizing the enjoyment of driving, and the value of owning, a Mercedes-Benz." On her first visit ever to a Mercedes-Benz dealership (Dreher-Holloway, Inc.), Mrs. Casavant was won over by the Calypso Green C280 with Parchment leather, heated seats and a glass sunroof. She took a test drive in the snow- covered parking lot and was convinced that this car, with traction control, was the right car for her. "I always look for a comfortable car and a good value and the Mercedes was perfect for me." Shortly after purchasing the C-Class, she was notified that her new car was to be a gift from Mercedes-Benz in recognition of the milestone sale. Upon receiving the news in a phone call from Hal Whiteford this past Friday, Mrs. Casavant was skeptical, "I said 'This must be a joke.' I didn't believe it until I called the salesman at Dreher-Holloway, who confirmed the great news." Mercedes-Benz owes its record sales this year to the strong momentum of its traditional core model lines such as the C-Class, E-Class sedans and wagons, S-Class sedans, CL coupes and SL coupe/roadsters, as well as unprecedented demand for exciting new benchmark vehicles like the CLK coupe, M-Class sport utility vehicle and the SLK coupe/roadster. By year end, U.S. sales for Mercedes-Benz are expected to reach roughly 115,000 with additional growth planned for the years ahead. SOURCE Mercedes-Benz of North America, Inc.
