Industry Week Selects Audi for 'Technologies of the Year' Award

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 17 -- Today, one of the leading
magazines in the nation for industry specific editorials, Industry Week,
presented Audi with one of their "Technologies of the Year" awards. Audi is
receiving this award for its engineering and production advancements
represented in its A8 premium luxury sedans. Industry Week will be announcing
Audi's achievement in their December 15, 1997 issue. The formal award
ceremony will be held March 30, 1998 in Chicago at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel
& Towers as part of Industry Week's "Managing For Innovation" conference.
The Audi A8 is truly well deserving of the prestigious award. The all-
aluminum car is designed with seven new aircraft grade alloys, new production
techniques, over 40 new patents, and new ways of work management. This
monumental accomplishment for Audi took over 10 years to develop and used
everything from the power of supercomputers for design, to the precision of
robots for construction, to the skillfulness of human hands for the delicate
touches throughout the car.
This award adds to the A8's impressive list of achievements. Achievements
like being named Robb Report's "Car of the Year," attaining a "Best of What's
New" award from Popular Science and receiving one of Motor Week's "Driver's
Choice" awards. The A8 is a car accustomed to praise and a number of
publications have called it "the first luxury sedan of the 21st century."
