Hertz Opens Weather-Protected Return Centers

Renters Go Under Cover at Hertz; Car Rental Company Opens Weather-Protected Return Centers

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Jan. 6 -- The Hertz Corporation
, the world's largest car rental company, today opened in Detroit
the first of nearly 40 weather-protected Hertz Return Centers that it plans to
open nationwide at major airport locations. During January, Hertz plans to
open seven more in Atlanta; Charlotte, NC; Cincinnati; Dallas at Love Field;
Denver; Miami; and San Antonio, TX.
The Hertz Return Centers ensure that customers are shielded from rain,
snow or other weather conditions when returning their car at the conclusion of
the rental.
At Hertz Return Centers where lots were previously open and exposed to the
weather, renters will now be sheltered by a fabricated steel canopy covering
the car rental return area. Renters, following lighted signs, will drive into
the Return Centers, under the canopy, safe from the elements. They will be
greeted at car-side by a Hertz Instant Return Representative who will conclude
the rental transaction and provide the renter with a printed receipt. The
renter will then proceed, under the canopy, to the waiting Hertz shuttle bus,
still protected from the weather.
Hertz Return Centers will also be available at enclosed, decked car rental
facilities such as Hertz has at airports in Atlanta and Miami.
"With Hertz Return Centers, we've got the customer covered during the
return process, all the way from the car to the terminal," said Joseph R.
Nothwang, Hertz Executive Vice President and General Manager for the company's
U.S. Rent A Car Division. "As with Hertz #1 Club Gold, which speeds and
shelters renters at the time of pick up, this is a service that distinguishes
us from the competition. No more getting cold and wet, dashing from car to
shelter, dodging puddles with heavy luggage. As we have done before with
innovations and product enhancements, we have raised the bar and set a new
standard for quality in car rental."
Unlike Hertz #1 Club Gold, Hertz Return Centers are available to all Hertz
customers; no membership required.
Hertz, with over 5,500 locations in approximately 140 countries, operates
a worldwide fleet of 500,000 vehicles.
