AutoVantage Releases Top-Ten List of New Cars Requested By Online Users in 1997

Honda Accord Number One Among AutoVantage Car Buyers

STAMFORD, Conn., Jan. 8 AutoVantage (http://www.autovantage.com),
one of the leading interactive car-buying services on the Internet and
America Online, today released the "AutoVantage Top Ten" for 1997, a
list of the most popular new vehicles requested by AutoVantage car
buyers.
The Honda Accord led the pack for the year. But the "AutoVantage Top
Ten," which appears monthly in Yahoo! Internet Life magazine, showed the
Accord battling with the Toyota Camry, the Ford Explorer and the Honda Civic
for the top slot throughout the year.
"What's remarkable about the 'AutoVantage Top Ten' is how closely it
resembles the auto industry's top-ten list of cars bought by the general
public in 1997," said AutoVantage Vice President Ken Esterow. "It's
clear that online car buying has become mainstream, and services like
AutoVantage, which combine information with hassle-free car buying, are
becoming the first place to go for today's car buyer."
The "AutoVantage Top Ten" is as follows:

    1. Honda Accord
    2. Toyota Camry
    3. Honda Civic
    4. Ford Explorer
    5. Dodge Caravan
    6. Ford Expedition
    7. Toyota 4-Runner
    8. Ford F-Series pickup
    9. Jeep Grand Cherokee
    10. Honda CR-V

AutoVantage is a free new-car buying service that eliminates haggling
and saves the typical car buyer 8% over the manufacturer's sticker
price, according to an independent survey. Car buyers browse expert
reviews and pricing information and then submit a purchase request via
America Online (keyword: AV), on the Internet at http://www.autovantage.com or
by calling toll-free (1-800-AutoVantage). Car buyers quickly receive
from AutoVantage a preferred hassle-free price and the name of a participating
AutoVantage dealer nearby who will honor it. AutoVantage received nearly
500,000 consumer purchase requests in 1997.
In a head-to-head comparison by Motor Trend magazine, AutoVantage was
ranked the best interactive car-buying service on the Internet (Oct.
1996).
