March Is Auto Theft Prevention Month At AutoNation USADALLAS, Feb. 26 -- AutoNation USA, America's used vehicle megastore, is partnering with state and local authorities to display vehicle theft prevention techniques and protection devices during March at its Dallas, Lewisville, Grand Prairie and Irving stores. With a vehicle being stolen every five minutes in Texas, the state ranks second nationally in car theft. Car owners must be savvy of the prevention products available if they are to hold on to their vehicles. Representatives from the Texas ATPA (Automobile Theft Prevention Authority) will be at AutoNation USA megastores during designated times with a 20 foot exhibit trailer, equipped with sample auto theft prevention devices. LoJack Corporation will be demonstrating the Stolen Vehicle Police Recovery System, which is operational in 40 of the Metroplex Police Departments. H.E.A.T. (Help End Auto Theft) program registration will be conducted by local law enforcement agencies on site, and free SafeLite Auto Glass window etching certificates for stenciling vehicle identification numbers will be given away to all H.E.A.T. registrants. During the month of March, guests may register to win a LoJack Stolen Vehicle Police Recovery System, suggested retail price of $595, including installation.
