Jeep(R) Owners Seeking Adventure Journey to Fourth Annual Camp Jeep(TM) August 14-16AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 12 -- A Jeep(R) tradition continues this summer as thousands of Jeep owners, their families and friends navigate the twisting, 1,200 foot ascent of a two-lane highway etched into the Colorado Rockies for the fourth annual Camp Jeep(TM), August 14-16. Jeep enthusiasts travel from all corners of the country to partake in the three action-packed days of off-highway driving, fly-fishing, mountain biking, white-water rafting and other exhilarating outdoor activities. For others, the appeal lies beyond an exploration of Mother Nature's playground, as they look forward to meeting Jeep owners from across the country and learning about the latest in 4x4 technology. "Camp Jeep provides a festive outdoor setting for our owners to come together and experience memorable and exciting adventures, all of which are typical of the Jeep brand lifestyle," said Martin R. Levine, General Manager - Chrysler/Plymouth/Jeep Division. "Now in its fourth year, more than 10,000 people from 45 states have gathered for this unique vacation get-away." Located 25 miles southeast of Vail, on the former World War II training ground of the 10th Mountain Division, Camp Jeep focuses on the environment, education and entertainment while providing participants with the opportunity to learn more about the off-highway capabilities of their vehicles in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Under the instruction of experienced guides, owners will learn the basics of off-highway driving and the capabilities of Jeep Wrangler, Cherokee and Grand Cherokee on Jeep 101 training courses. After honing these skills, drivers can set out on guided trail rides to experience the surrounding trails rated according to level of difficulty. Additionally, each vehicle in the Jeep line-up will be the subject of roundtable discussions, providing owners the unique opportunity to meet directly with Jeep engineers, receive updates on product developments and peer into the future of Jeep manufacturing. "Camp Jeep gives us the opportunity to interact one-on-one with our owners, and it gives them a chance to learn more about the people behind the Jeep brand," said Levine. Participants can choose from dozens of activities such as hiking, all- terrain mountain boarding, archery and outdoor musical concerts. Performing exclusively for Camp Jeep participants, and headlining the musical portion of the weekend, will be Grammy Award-winner Kenny Loggins. At an expanded Family Activity Center, people of all ages can enjoy arts and crafts, obstacle courses, puppet shows and even a mini-Jeep 101 course for children. "Combine all these activities in this beautiful setting surrounded by mountains and you can see that Camp Jeep clearly illustrates how Jeep ownership is more than a way around, it's a way of life," added Levine. Camp Jeep continues to work with the USDA Forest Service to ensure that the Camp Hale site is properly protected and maintained. Because Camp Jeep is committed to the enjoyment and preservation of nature, the program includes a complete reclamation project intended to leave Camp Hale in the same, if not better, condition than it was in prior to the event. Additionally, trained professionals will be on hand to conduct environmental seminars and outdoor survival courses. Registration is unchanged from previous years at $195 per vehicle (there is no per-person charge) and includes participation in all activities, except white-water rafting, which is offered at a discounted rate.
