SLP Introduces High Performance GTX Ram Air

TROY, Mich., May 4 -- SLP Automotive Group today introduced
the newest addition to its growing family of high performance vehicles, GTX
Ram Air.
Available from Pontiac-GMC dealers in select markets across the country,
SLP's GTX Ram Air is based on the Pontiac Grand Prix and is set apart from the
competition by its distinctive appearance, best-of-class performance and
outstanding handling. The GTX package can be added on all Grand Prix SE, GT
and GTP models.
The GTX Ram Air package is offered direct to the dealer from SLP and
features a composite hood with twin scoops, underhood forced air induction
system, special exterior badges and key fobs. The combination of SLP's
trademark functional hood and underhood induction system increases engine
output by ten horsepower on GTXs equipped with the 3800 V6 engine, and adds
five horsepower on the 3100 V6.

    Consumer Reaction
"So far, in the three test markets where GTX is available, the response
has been fantastic. In metro Chicago and Detroit, for example, we've received
hundreds of telephone calls from enthusiasts who have either purchased a Grand
Prix and now want SLP to retrofit the package, which we'll gladly do, or
they've ordered a new Grand Prix and want the dealer to send the car to us for
the package," noted Reg Harris, SLP marketing director. In addition to its
operations in Illinois and Michigan, SLP produces GTX in Charlotte, NC.
"Preliminary feedback indicates customers love GTX's aggressive styling
and really appreciate the performance and handling enhancements. Dealers see
a real benefit in being able to ship vehicles direct to SLP for modification
and then receive GTXs within a few days," Harris said.

    GTX Ram Air Options
For enthusiasts who demand even more, SLP's optional Performance Exhaust
System adds another ten horsepower. That translates into 260 total horsepower
when the GTX package and the optional exhaust are added to Grand Prix equipped
with the supercharged 3800 V6 engine. (The supercharged V6 engine is standard
equipment on Pontiac's Grand Prix GTP model.)
Other GTX-specific options include: 17" Michelin Pilot Series tires
mounted on six-spoke 17" x 7" aluminum wheels; Castrol "Syntec" High
Performance Lubricants Package which features Castrol's "Maximum Protection"
500,000-mile engine limited warranty; power sunroof and a custom car cover.

    Buyer Profile
The first wave of GTX buyers are largely professionals who have higher
income and education levels than traditional purchasers of mid-size coupes and
sedans. More importantly, these buyers are car enthusiasts who demand
best-in-class performance and handling but still appreciate the practicality
of four doors. (GTX package and options can also be added on two-door Grand
Prix SE, GT and GTP models.)
According to Jim Bechtell, new car sales manager at Somerset Pontiac in
Troy, "We've already sold five GTXs, and that's because our customers want an
alternative to the much higher priced foreign competition, such as the BMW
540i and Mercedes E430.

    Price/Value
"Our typical GTX Ram Air is heavily contented and has a total-vehicle MSRP
of $28,000, which is $20,000 less than the cost of the BWM 540i or Mercedes
E430. However, in terms of quality, technology, features and performance, we
believe GTX ranks right up there with its European counterparts," noted
Bechtell.
The GTX base package has a $2,499.00 MSRP and along with the additional
SLP options are covered by SLP's three year/36,000-mile limited warranty. For
ordering information on the GTX package, contact your local Pontiac dealer or
call SLP at 1-800-533-5673.
