TTC Announces Winner Of High-Performance Driving CourseFARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., June 29 -- Transmission Technologies Corporation (TTC), which markets Spicer and TREMEC transmissions, announced the winner of a four-day high performance driving course at The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Phoenix, Ariz. Philip Freund, president of Freund International, won the trip at the national conference of the American Truck Dealers Association in Nashville, Tenn., in April. TTC is a sponsor of The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving, using the course as a test bed for transmission development. The four-day course, round trip coach air fare, five nights at the Wyndam Hotel, and all meals and ground transportation are included. TTC sponsored the contest to promote the new medium-duty automated mechanical seven-speed transmission, Spicer AMT-7, from TTC. Freund International sells International and Isuzu trucks at its three stores in Illinois. Mr. Freund works at the main store in Huntley, Ill., a northwest suburb of Chicago. "I'm looking forward to the course," Mr. Freund said. "I've always been a fan of auto racing, although until now I've been more interested in watching than driving." Freund International specifies a lot of Spicer transmissions in their vehicles, especially in their medium-duty trucks. In fact, Mr. Freund was one of the first to test the AMT-7 while it was still in the developmental stages. "I was very impressed with the AMT-7," says Freund. "I can't wait until it comes out so we can start getting them out on the road." The AMT-7 is scheduled for production beginning 1999. Transmission Technologies Corporation (TTC) markets transmission products globally for a wide variety of vehicles ranging from high performance passenger cars and light trucks to Class 8 heavy-duty trucks. Brands include Spicer heavy-duty, Spicer medium-duty, and TREMEC light-duty transmissions.
