BMW Honored as Marque of the Year for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand PrixWOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., July 7 -- BMW announced today that it will be named the marque of the year for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, BMW is excited and proud to be honored in such a prestigious event. The annual event will be held in Schenley Park the week of July 12-19, 1998. The Vintage Grand Prix, a charitable event, is in its 16th year. This is a sanctioned event by the Vintage Sports Car Club of America and attracts more than 130 racers, 50,000 spectators and up to 1,500 cars in various shows which are held as a complement to the races. Since 1983, proceeds from the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix total more than $935,000, donated to the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley Schools. BMW will celebrate its unique Motorsport heritage at Schenley Park, July 18th and 19th. There are exciting programs for everyone: * "Concours d'Elegance" display of hundreds of vintage classics * Spirited vintage racing * Tailgate German buffet * A collection of BMW race cars from the 1930s to the 1990s, including the M3 that won the 1998 24 Hours of Daytona.
