Flint, Michigan GM Dealer Can't Sell New Cars, So He Is Giving One Away!(Car business stymied and local dealer wants to help workers affected by strike) FLINT, Mich., July 21 -- Jim Waldron, a Buick-Pontiac-GMC Truck dealer in Flint, Michigan, is giving away a new 1999 GMC Sierra to one lucky family affected by the General Motors strike. "Since the walkout, my dealership has had a serious decline in sales," Waldron lamented. "The GM worker has been our backbone and these folks are making a tremendous sacrifice financially during this time. I would just like to give one lucky family something to look forward to, once this thing is over," he added. Waldron's new car dealership will give away a new 1999 GMC Sierra pickup truck once the assembly lines get rolling again. The winning person will be selected in a contest asking persons affected by the strike to guess the day the work stoppage will end. If more then one person guesses the right day, the winner will be chosen from a random drawing. The Flint Radio Center, which owns and operates a group of Flint radio stations, has joined the effort by agreeing to promote the giveaway for free! They challenge other media groups to help, so one lucky worker will get the benefit of a free new vehicle. Residents are invited to register at Jim Waldron Buick-Pontiac-GMC, which is located in a Flint suburb on M-15 in Davison, Michigan. No purchase is necessary. Officers of the United Auto Workers, General Motors Corporation and their families are not eligible to win. The longtime GM dealer thought this would be a good way for some people in mid-Michigan to have some fun and recognize the workers who build America's finest vehicles. "I want to give this truck away to someone affected by this strike," Waldron noted. Added Waldron, "A strike of this magnitude affects the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker."
