Thrifty Also Donates 50 Cents A Rental
                   During September to Children's Charities

TULSA, Okla., Aug. 27 -- In a multi-million dollar promotion,
Thrifty Car Rental is partnering with Blockbuster Video(R) to give consumers
and frequent flyers a value of "epic" proportions.
Consumers who rent a car from Thrifty receive, upon request, a Blockbuster
Value Card good for one free movie rental at Blockbuster. Frequent flyer
program members may elect to receive two Blockbuster Value Cards or receive
frequent flyer miles with their car rental. The promotion is valid
September 1 through December 15 at all participating U.S. Thrifty and
Blockbuster locations.
Additionally, travel agents who reserve with Thrifty have a chance to win
one of ten trips for two to the 1999 Blockbuster Entertainment Awards(R) in
Los Angeles. Thrifty and Blockbuster are also working to create a web element
to the promotion to appear later this fall.
"This offer has universal appeal to every kind of car rental customer --
local, leisure, airport arriving, corporate, trucks, government -- you name
it," said Tom DeNardin, vice president, marketing, for Thrifty. "We are
looking at this promotion to drive business during a time that is
traditionally a slower period for car rental and we believe a promotion with
such a great brand name as Blockbuster will do the trick."
"We are delighted to be working with Thrifty this fall on this exciting
program," said Lisa Adams, vice president of national sales and partnership
marketing for Blockbuster. "This is the type of promotion that we know will
drive members into our stores. We look forward to a successful program."
Moreover, Thrifty will donate 50 cents for every car rental during
September at participating locations to more than 75 children's charities
across the country under its annual Neighbors Together(TM) program.
