"Deneb's educational outreach included three summer camps this year, all providing exposure to Deneb's widely used industrial simulation software," said Victor Rhoder, director of education and training, Deneb Robotics, Inc. "It's exciting to see high school students gain interest in high-tech skills that motivate them toward more complex concepts that they otherwise would have avoided. Ultimately, it could lead to high-paying jobs in the technology sector, where demand is enormous."
The camps focused on career opportunities in design and leading-edge technologies. High-end Pentium(R) based computers were used with industry-level simulation software from Deneb Robotics, Inc. Students learned how they can design and build products in a virtual environment, just as major automotive, aerospace and defense companies do in today's Digital Manufacturing era.
Continued development of such curriculum will be explored at an Education and Training Forum, October 7, 1998, in Troy, Michigan, concurrent with the 1998 Deneb International Simulation Conference and Technology Showcase. Chairing the program is Elaine Seat from Lockheed Martin Energy Systems. Presentations will be given by representatives of Focus: HOPE, Ohio Northern University, DSIA, Job Skill Technology, and Georgia Tech University. Professionals from commercial training organizations, users and educational institutions are welcome at the Forum.
