BAT Supercar & Dolphin Pulse Charge Test Plans Now on Upgraded Web Site; Heavy Duty Engine Testing Program In ProgressCHULA VISTA, Calif., Oct. 1 -- BAT International (OTC Bulletin Board: BAAT) has established an updated and expanded new BAT Supercar web site (batsupercar.com) that includes detailed information about the testing program for BAT Supercars and Dolphin Pulse Charge technology. BAT has achieved some very high fuel efficiency test results with a proprietary engine technology (Pulse Charge) incorporated into a diesel engine that was placed into a production Geo Metro four-door sedan. BAT's Pulse Charge web site includes more information about the track tests, highway field tests, and urban drive cycle tests and is preparing for dynamometer tests at an independent lab. The following test programs are discussed at the site: - Track tests at the California Speedway where BAT achieved 92 and 94 mpg at 40 mph (see press release 2/16/98). - Highway field tests where BAT achieved 81 mpg at 55 mph (see press release 8/31/98). - Urban drive cycle tests where BAT achieved 65 mpg in stop and go city driving (see press release 9/2/98). The objective of the test program and updates on the Internet site is to compile a suitable database of information about the performance of Pulse Charge technology in a variety of independently certified tests and to communicate the results of these tests along with information about Pulse Charge research and development programs to government agencies, corporations and interested persons. This information will then be compiled into one or more "White Papers" and presented to interested organizations and individuals. The technical input from the review of the web site by industry professionals and the compiling of test data is a crucial part of the "peer review" process in preparing White Papers. Subsequent to BAT's recent filing of a patent on Dolphin Pulse Charge technology (see press release 9/15/98), BAT will use the data in the White Papers to assist with efforts to license Pulse Charge technology to interested companies. The next major test program of Dolphin Pulse Charge technology is well underway and involves dynamometer tests at both BAT's own facilities and independent laboratories. BAT's subsidiary, Dolphin ACI, has set up its own engine test facility at BAT's R&D center in Costa Mesa, CA. This facility provides initial in-house dynamometer data on a variety of engines. BAT has also contracted with a nationally recognized independent laboratory to complete dynamometer tests to further verify the fuel efficiency and emissions of a numerous Pulse Charged engines. BAT's Dynamometer program includes testing of heavy-duty engines suitable for large trucks and buses. One of the projects in this program includes the testing of a heavy-duty engine supplied earlier this summer by a major European engine manufacturer. This engine had to be retrofitted with specialized adapters, mounts and other parts suitable for dynamometer testing. A national laboratory has already obtained baseline data on the fuel economy and emissions for this engine. Subsequently, this engine was dismantled to prepare for Dolphin Pulse Charging modifications. Additional part for this engine are currently being shipped from Europe which will enable BAT to complete the testing of this heavy-duty Pulse Charged engine. BAT anticipates that results from its heavy-duty test project will be available in November/early December. BAT International is organized as a holding company with major ownership position in a set of subsidiary companies now commercializing advanced automotive and energy technology products developed by BAT over the last six years. This includes electric vehicles, super-efficient or high-powered engines, advanced batteries and power electronics, electric bicycles and scooters, super anti-friction additives, and electric power generation.
