Car Shopping Fiesta-Style at Dodger Stadium; Auto Tent Sale First-Ever "en Espanol"

LOS ANGELES--Oct. 7, 1998--Latinos will flock to Dodger Stadium on Oct. 16, 17 and 18, but not to watch a baseball game.
Thousands are expected to go car shopping at the largest all-Hispanic Auto Tent Sale in the country. Organizers of this first-ever, fiesta-style used car sale are tailoring this event for Hispanic consumers, featuring car safety demonstrations and educational information. Hispanic families will win big on this trip to Dodger Stadium because SafetyBeltSafe USA will offer hands-on tips about car safety for children.
Motor vehicle deaths are a leading cause of fatalities for younger children. From 1987 to 1996, the California Highway Patrol found that of children younger than age four that died as car occupants, 83 percent (558) were lost in auto crashes that were survivable. Consistent use of seat belts and car safety seats dramatically lessens the risk of injury or death in motor vehicle accidents.
"We want our customers to know we care," said Armando Macedo, president of Macedo & Associates. "All participating dealers have committed to making a donation for every car sold to SafetyBeltSafe USA." SafetyBeltSafe USA in a nonprofit organization that provides prevention education and car seats to low-income families through a voucher program at five community hospitals and clinics.
"This event is of historical significance," emphasized Macedo. "It is the first time an event such as this has been designed from the ground up to reflect the needs of the Hispanic community."
From the type of vehicles being sold, to accommodate larger families, to more than 100 lenders experienced in making loans within the Hispanic community, the event is geared to Latinos. Other features include: bilingual representatives, entertainment and music in Spanish, and an 800 number event hotline in Spanish giving event details and a checklist of items to bring to the event.
El Reventon de Autos (The Auto Blow-Out), Nuestra Venta Mundial de Autos (Our World Sale of Autos) will run: Friday, Oct. 16 from 4 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, call the event hotline at 800/914-8355.
