Arlington International Racecourse to Host Collector Car AuctionCHICAGO, Nov. 2 -- On Saturday, Nov. 7th, Dana Mecum Auctions Inc. will present the third edition of their Fall Premier Auction of investment grade collector cars to be held at Arlington International Racecourse in Arlington Heights, Ill. This world famous auction will once again feature some of the best automobiles ever made. Bidders from all over the world will attend. While all car makes and models from all eras will be open for bid, the centerpiece of this year's event is a collection of unique, one-of-a-kind Muscle Cars, including Shelbys, Mustangs and high performance Camaros and Chevelles. Estimated car prices for the approximately two hundred cars range from the extremely affordable to over a quarter of a million dollars. Specialty cars will also be featured. There is the 1963 Wally Meskowsky built Federal Engineering Special Number 15. Supporting race articles and photographs go to the winning bidder of this championship Dirt Car. There is also the 1948 "Hungry Offy" Sherman/Kurtis Midget race car. This car has a rich history substantiated by the race articles that go with the car. There is even a 1928 Durant, one of only three known to exist in the world. Of particular interest will be the 1979 Porsche 930 Turbo owned by Lou Gramm, the lead singer of the rock group Foreigner. Lou is the writer of the song Cold As Ice, Hot Blooded and Juke Box Hero. He will be at the auction to pass the keys to the new owner. Exotic cars are being shown. There are a number of Ferraris, three collector Jaguars, Mercedes and a Maserati Khamsin. There is a special block of 24 Corvettes that will be especially interesting to Vette fans. They range in age from 1953 to 1990. If you love the more elegant, there is a 1936 Packard Convertible Sedan Series 1408 as well as a 16 cylinder Cadillac. Anyone interested in cars will want to attend this event. Spectators can view the cars prior to the auction on Friday, Nov. 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The auction starts at 4:00 p.m. Tickets and a collector catalog that feature pictures and a history of the cars are available at the gate.
