Discover Today's Motorcycling Signs as Underwriter of Motorcycle Exhibition at the Field Museum
CHICAGO, Nov. 4 -- The Field Museum announced today that
Discover Today's Motorcycling, the communications service bureau of the
Motorcycle Industry Council will help underwrite the Museum's upcoming
exhibition, The Art of the Motorcycle.
The Art of the Motorcycle comes to The Field Museum directly from The
Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, where it shattered attendance
records. The Field Museum exhibition will consist of 72 motorcycles -- each
one displayed as a unique work of art. The exhibition runs from November 7
through March 21, 1999.
"The Field Museum is very grateful to Discover Today's Motorcycling for
its support of The Art of the Motorcycle. Through this exciting exhibition,
we will examine the motorcycle both as an object of art, and as a unique and
revealing cultural artifact," said Museum President and CEO, John McCarter.
"Discover Today's Motorcycling and its funding members are proud to
support this landmark exhibition," Beverly St. Clair, Managing Director of
Discover Today's Motorcycling said in referring to Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki
and Honda. "These companies have long been in the forefront of bringing the
art and heart of motorcycling to the men and women of this country. Through
their technology and design, as well as underwriting efforts such as this, the
Motorcycle Safety Foundation RiderCourses(R), and hundreds of other special
events, the United States continues to enjoy the best motorcycling has to
offer."
The underwriting support for The Art of the Motorcycle made by Discover
Today's Motorcycling is in addition to an earlier underwriting commitment made
by Zell's Angels, a group of motorcycling enthusiasts founded by Chicago
businessman Sam Zell. Zell is Chairman of the Board of Equity Group, Inc.,
and director of various other public companies.
"We're very pleased to be joining Zell's Angels in supporting the Chicago
exhibition of The Art of the Motorcycle organized by the Guggenheim. As
longtime ambassadors for Discover Today's Motorcycling, Zell's Angels
represent the heart of motorcycling -- active people pursuing the inspiration
and joys of escape in the great outdoors," St. Clair added.
Discover Today's Motorcycling, the communications service bureau of the
Motorcycle Industry Council, is a source of information about motorcycling to
