Toyota to Unveil New-Concept in Affordable Transportation At North American International Auto Show

    TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 12 -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc., announced today that it will hold a world premiere press
conference for a new-concept in affordable transportation at the North
American International Auto Show, in Detroit on Monday, January 4, 1999.
    The yet-to-be-named new vehicle was developed to be simple, functional and
affordable, while offering traditional Toyota quality, reliability and
durability.  The vehicle will be offered in both two- and four-door models.
It will be price-positioned substantially below the Toyota Corolla, yet it
will offer nearly as much passenger volume.
    The vehicle is slated for launch in North America in the fall of 1999.
