And true to Volkswagen, the new edition will continue to excite the automotive world with new-for-1999 features including ABS four-wheel disc brakes, rear-seat reading lights, special "ring" type head rests and door entry lights. In addition to the New Beetle raffle, proceeds from the sales of Volkswagen merchandise sold during the show will go toward DIC's programs and services. DIC is also one of the eleven local children's charities to benefit from the NAIAS's Charity Preview, sponsored by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association. Since 1920, The Detroit Institute for Children has been providing specialized diagnostic, medical and rehabilitative care to children with physical, neurological and developmental disabilities from southeastern Michigan, northern Ohio and Ontario. Nearly 3,000 children and young adults receive services from the United Way supported agency each year.
