Comdisco Helps College Students Satisfy Technology Needs

ROSEMONT, Ill.--December 2, 1998--On many college campuses, personal computers are not a luxury, but a requirement. To help students meet their technology prerequisites, Comdisco has announced a program to provide students with low-cost, high-quality refurbished notebook computers and accessories through campus resellers.
Comdisco's Campus Reseller Program provides notebooks that meet both the educational demands and the budgetary constraints of students. Notebooks from leading manufacturers, including IBM, Dell, Compaq, Toshiba and Hewlett-Packard, are often available at one-third the cost of new equipment. Additionally, all of Comdisco's equipment is accompanied by a one-year warranty that allows users to have repairs made through the nationwide network of Radio Shack stores and Tandy Corporation service centers.
"Students want computers that are reliable and will meet their needs - Internet access for research, word processing and email to communicate with professors and to keep in touch with friends and family," said Rachel Dix, CSP, campus bookstore manager, North Carolina Wesleyan College. "A program such as Comdisco's responds to those requirements with a technology solution that's portable, efficient and low cost."
Comdisco, a corporate member of the Campus Computer Resellers Alliance, a branch of the National Association of College Stores responsible for uniting resellers at institutions across the country, refurbishes its notebooks at Comdisco Technical Services, the world's largest technology refurbishing facility that carries the prestigious ISO-9002 certification for consistent quality practices.
The Campus Reseller Program provides two options for campus resellers. Under the Protected Inventory plan, resellers pay only for products they sell. Any unsold merchandise is returned to Comdisco, thus eliminating the risks of maintaining an inventory. Under the Traditional Inventory plan, participants may order unlimited quantities on a net 30 basis. Demo products are also available at reduced rates with both plans.
Comdisco, Inc. , a technology services company, is one of the world's leading providers of solutions that help organizations reduce technology cost and risk. The company's services include desktop management; business continuity; network services; equipment leasing and remarketing and Year 2000 testing services.
