Zap Receives Patent for Electric Scooter

SEBASTOPOL, Calif.--Dec. 9, 1998--The U.S. Patent Office has granted Zap Power Systems (OTC BB:ZAPP) patent No. 5,848,660 on their folding electric scooter, known as the ZAPPY. The patent is the third patent granted to the California based public company.
According to ZAP President and Inventor James McGreen, the ZAPPY is the ultimate Sports Utility Vehicle. "People buy it because it's a lot of fun, but then they find its utility," says ZAP President Jim McGreen. And ZAPPIES are for everyone! --students take them to school, and can store them in a locker or closet, commuters can take their ZAPPY on the bus or train, or it can be a fun auxiliary vehicle for your car, boat, RV or airplane.
"We think every car in America should have a ZAPPY in the trunk," said McGreen. "It's a take-anywhere, go-anywhere instant transportation." Orders for the ZAPPY have also been received from Australia, Europe, and Japan.
The ZAPPY is the latest in the family of Zero Air Pollution products made by ZAP. ZAP is now seeking potential franchisees that will be authorized to rent and sell ZAP products in select locations.
To order the ZAPPY call ZAP Power Systems at 800/251-4555, or access their Web site at http://www.zapbikes.com.
