All-New Acura 3.2TL Honored With Buyer's AwardsTORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 22 -- The all-new Acura 3.2TL has quickly established a new benchmark in the midluxury category and now is being recognized with two automotive industry best car awards: AAA's "Top Car" award and Consumers Digest "Best Buy" award. For six years AAA has identified vehicles that rank the highest in several categories and price ranges. For 1999, the TL receives AAA's coveted "Top Car" award in the price category of $25,000 to $30,000. The "Top Car" criteria, vehicle scores and winners are published in AAA's annual new car buying guide, Autograph. Consumers Digest highlighted the TL's unique combination of luxury, performance and value in naming it a "Best Buy" in the luxury car category. The Best Buy badge is awarded yearly to models that are better than their direct competitors. Consumers Digest ratings are based on a 12-point checklist of performance and design characteristics including acceleration, fuel economy, handling and steering, transmission, ride quality, braking and overall styling. "We think these accolades help reinforce the main reason why so many consumers are buying TLs -- it's a luxury performance car with more power and standard features than the competition -- all at a great price," said Richard Colliver, Acura's executive vice president. The new Acura 3.2TL has been completely redesigned and features a 3.2-liter, 225-horsepower VTEC, V-6 engine with more horsepower than any of its competitors. In addition, the TL offers an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission with a sequential SportShift system for semi-manual or fully automatic operation. Designed, engineered and manufactured in the U.S., the TL offers more standard features than any other car in its class, including leather seating, heated front seats, power driver's and passenger's seat, automatic climate control, power moonroof, Traction Control System, ABS, an Acura/Bose(R) AM/FM/cassette in-dash CD audio system and cruise control. The only factory option offered on the TL is the state-of-the-art Acura Navigation System for $2,000, which now offers new features that make it easier to use, and more versatile. Like all Acura models, the TL is covered by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. Additional ownership benefits include Acura Total Luxury Care (TLC), which provides free 24-hour roadside assistance, concierge service and trip routing.
