Ford Motor Company Brings Three Tenors to Detroit in July
                        Another Tibor Rudas Production

DETROIT, Jan. 8 -- They've charmed audiences around the
globe, bringing classical music and opera to millions of fans. On July 17,
1999, Tibor Rudas will present The Three Tenors -- Jose Carreras, Placido
Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti -- in a live performance in Detroit proudly
sponsored by Ford Motor Company .
"We're thrilled to sponsor The Three Tenors for their first concert
together in Detroit," said Jacques A. Nasser, Ford Motor Company Chief
Executive Officer. "Most of the world knows Detroit as the 'Motor City,' but
on the 17th of July, Detroit will stand out as a capital of culture and
classical music as The Three Tenors perform here."
The Three Tenors' concert, which will take place at a Detroit site to be
determined in January, will be under the artistic direction of James Levine
and has been designed as a two-pronged celebration. The event will honor the
city of Detroit's upcoming 300th birthday, as well as recognizing the Michigan
Opera Theatre and the Detroit Opera House. Edsel B. Ford II, a member of Ford
Motor Company's Board of Directors, is chairman of Detroit 300. Proceeds from
the concert will benefit the Michigan Opera Theatre and kick-off the New
Century Fundraising Campaign.
"The concert will be a celebration unlike any other," Mr. Nasser said.
"There is so much good to celebrate in Detroit and its ongoing cultural
renaissance. We want the world to know that a rich cultural heritage truly
exists here. The Three Tenors are the perfect ambassadors to help us
communicate this to the world."
Each of The Three Tenors has performed individually in the Detroit area in
the past. The last North American venue for The Three Tenors was in Toronto
in January 1997. The proceeds from the concert went to the Canadian Breast
Cancer Foundation. The Three Tenors are performing in Tokyo on January 9,
1999, and are scheduled to appear in Pretoria, South Africa on April 18, 1999
before traveling to Detroit for their only remaining scheduled concert in
North America this century.
Ticket information for the Ford-sponsored Three Tenors performance will be
announced shortly. This performance is another Tibor Rudas production.
