FutureOne to Provide Live Internet Bidding for Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction

PHOENIX--Jan. 18, 1999--FutureOne Inc. (OTC BB:FUTO) Tuesday announced that it will be providing live internet bidding technology ("iBid") for the internationally renowned Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction, presented by DaimlerChrysler to be held Jan. 21-24 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
FutureOne is a major sponsor of the event, and develops and maintains Barrett-Jackson's internal client-server database system and integrated web sites.
The iBid system will be available to Barrett-Jackson's pre registered bidders. Bidders must pre-register and contact the Auction Office to obtain their password to access the iBid system. Barrett-Jackson currently has over 750 bidders pre registered for its event, with a total of over 82 Million dollars in letters of credit posted for the bidding.
Last year, the Barrett-Jackson Auction achieved a 65 percent sales rate and over 17 Million in sales during its four day event, attracting record crowds of more than 120,000 enthusiasts including 1,700 bidders from 14 different countries.
"With companies like Barrett-Jackson joining the e-commerce marketplace, the Internet is really coming of age, especially in the luxury market," said Stephen Heitz, FutureOne's vice president of software development. "This is a great service for many of our buyers, who do not want to make the trip to Scottsdale for one particular car," said Craig Jackson, president of Barrett-Jackson.
In addition to providing the iBid system, FutureOne will be broadcasting a live audio feed during all 48 hours of the auction. The auction will be broadcast in Microsoft NetShow format, and bidders wishing to place bids on line need to use Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater or Netscape Communicator 4.06 or greater.
