Hertz Builds Nationwide Truck and Van Rental Network; Focuses on Local Retail and Business DemandPARK RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 2 -- The Hertz Corporation , the global car rental giant, is building a network of truck and van rental locations across the U.S. based on the moving and mobility needs of American households and the needs of small to medium-size businesses. Since launching this new business line in May, 1998, Hertz has more than 90 locations in 30 states across the U.S. (photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990201/NYTU015) "We're leveraging our brand by moving into a new, but core-related business," said Joseph R. Nothwang, Hertz Executive Vice President and General Manager, Vehicle Rental and Leasing for the Americas and Asia Pacific. Last week, AAA announced that it had replaced Ryder Truck Rental with Hertz and Penske as its official truck rental affiliate. Hertz is also the exclusive car rental company of AAA. Hertz' truck and van inventory includes two- and four-wheel-drive pickup trucks, regular and extended cargo vans, and 15-20- and 24-foot "box" trucks. Hertz truck and van rental locations, with an eye on the household market, are also carrying a range of moving-related supplies. For sale are packing, dish and wardrobe boxes; bubble wrap, mattress covers, tape, rope and gloves. For rent are furniture pads, appliance and hand trucks. "We're building a local business on a well-established global reputation," commented Nothwang. "And because our reputation precedes us, our entry into new markets is accompanied by instant recognition and rapid business growth." Hertz offers a toll-free phone number that provides customers with the nearest Hertz Truck and Van rental location in the area, it is 1-888-999-5500. Hertz operates a fleet of 500,000 vehicles with over 5,500 locations in more than 140 countries worldwide.
