Ford Announces Expanded Community Outreach Program
DEARBORN, Mich., Feb. 5 -- Beginning this year, Ford Motor
Company salaried employees will have an opportunity to participate
in Ford ACTS -- a worldwide volunteer program designed to support the
company's corporate citizenship efforts. The program is one of the most far-
reaching community service efforts undertaken by any company.
Ford ACTS (Assisting the Community Through Service) builds on Ford's
existing volunteer program which encourages employees to spend their own time
working with non-profit groups and other civic organizations. Ford's
Community Affairs office will administer the program.
Salaried employees may opt to spend up to 16 hours per year participating
in Ford ACTS, working in teams with selected organizations on corporate
citizenship activities.
Ford yesterday met with representatives from nearly 50 community service
organizations to announce this new outreach program. Ford ACTS is one aspect
of Ford Cares, the company's commitment to build better communities and a
better quality of life.
