Civic and Accord Named 'Best Overall Values of the Year'

IntelliChoice Names Civic and Accord as 'Best Overall Values of the Year'; More Media Accolades go to Odyssey and Prelude
    TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 22 -- IntelliChoice has named Honda
vehicles in five categories for "Best Overall Value of the Year" awards for
1999.
    The IntelliChoice honors cap an award-winning year for Honda, with
MotorWeek, Car and Driver and Automobile Magazine recognizing the Odyssey,
Prelude, Civic and Accord with prestigious awards for quality, reliability and
overall excellence.
    IntelliChoice winners include:

    -- Civic DX sedan as Best Car Value under $20,000
    -- Civic CX/DX/HX coupe, sedan and hatchback models as Best Subcompact
       under $14,000
    -- Civic LX/EX coupe and sedan models as Best Subcompact over $14,000
    -- Accord DX/LX coupe and sedan models Best Midsize under $19,500
    -- Accord EX sedan as Best Midsize over $19,500.

    MotorWeek, which airs nationally on PBS, gave its 1999 Driver's Choice
award to the all-new, larger Honda Odyssey as Best Minivan.  The Odyssey
features the most powerful V-6 engine in its category, three-point seat belts
and head rests at all seven seating positions, Honda's third-row magic seat
that disappears into the floor and dual sliding doors.
    For the 13th time, Car and Driver named the Honda Accord to their esteemed
"10 Best" list.  Honda products have been named to the list 30 times -- more
than any other nameplate.  According to Car and Driver, the Accord earned
"10 Best" recognition because of its "relentless refinement since its debut
more than 20 years ago," including drivetrain excellence and a roomier
interior.
    Automobile Magazine recognized the Honda Prelude and the Odyssey as two of
its All Stars -- Best Sports Car (Prelude) and Best Minivan (Odyssey).
Additionally, a committee of top-ranking international journalists picked the
Honda Odyssey as one of the three finalists for the prestigious North American
Car of the Year Award, and the Odyssey was also recognized by American Woman
Motorscene magazine as the "most versatile team player" in their minivan
category.
