Isuzu's All-New VehiCROSS Makes Grand Entrance Into U.S. Market; Amigo and Hombre Go Along for the Ride With Increasing Sales

    CERRITOS, Calif.--April 1, 1999--American Isuzu Motors Inc. (AIMI) announced that the 1999 Isuzu VehiCROSS made a stunning entrance into the U.S. market, and production is already sold out for the year.
    "The demand for this unique SUV confirms our confidence in Isuzu's design and technological capabilities," said Bob Reilly, AIMI's senior vice president, COO, SUV. "The VehiCROSS shows us that we accomplished our mission to bring the most pulse-pounding SUV on the market today."
    The Hombre enjoyed a whopping 95 percent increase over last year, which was its best year ever, and posted 1,343 units. The Amigo boasted an 88 percent increase over last March with 874 units sold. Trooper sales were up 11 percent year-over-year, while the Rodeo continued as Isuzu's top competitor posting 4,287 units.
    Total retail sales were up 19 percent over last year.
    American Isuzu Motors' sport-utility vehicles are distributed through a network of 550 dealers across the United States.
