DeLorean Motor Company Suit Settled
DETROIT, May 21 -- Arthur Andersen LLP and David W. Allard,
Jr., Bankruptcy Trustee of the DeLorean Motor Company, announced today that
claims brought by the Trustee against Arthur Andersen in the New York state
courts in connection with the failure of the DeLorean Motor Company nearly 20
years ago have been settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. The
Trustee's trial counsel was Chadbourne & Parke LLP and Arthur Andersen's trial
counsel was Brown & Wood LLP. The settlement is subject to bankruptcy court
approval in Detroit.
In early 1998, a jury in a New York State Supreme Court found in favor of
the Trustee, and Arthur Andersen filed post-verdict motions asking the court
to set aside the verdict and dismiss the case. Before the court rendered a
decision on the post-trial motions, the parties reached the settlement
announced today.
