Mike's Famous Roadside Rest Makes History!NEW CASTLE, Del., June 5 -- Mike's Famous Roadside Rest, the world's only Harley-Davidson(R) dealership, restaurant and museum officially opened as Dave Barr, holder of a Guinness Book World Record and double amputee rider, retired two of his record setting motorcycles into the Museum of the American Road. Designed to resemble a turn-of-the-century warehouse, this first-of-its- kind dealership is filled with family fun for all ages. You don't have to ride a motorcycle to appreciate this spectacular themed "edu-tainment" complex. "When I bought my dealership, I never dreamed that I would open the doors of the finest Harley-Davidson facility in the world," said owner Mike Schwartz. Schwartz, along with Barr, officially opened the mega-Harley facility and the Museum of the American Road with a thunderous roar. A parade of motorcycles took a 100-mile journey from the Harley-Davidson plant in York, Pennsylvania to Mike's Famous Roadside Rest in New Castle, Delaware where the opening ceremonies took place. Along with the historic motorcycle parade, the highlight of the two-day celebration was the emotional unveiling of Dave Barr's exhibit in the Museum of the American Road. Guests learned about the man behind the machine and were treated to an interactive tour of the incredible journeys of this remarkable rider. Dave proudly displayed both the Harley-Davidson he rode across the icy tundra on his Trans-Siberian journey and that which he rode around the world. Mike's Famous Roadside Rest is the world's first and only Harley-Davidson tourist attraction dealership, restaurant and museum comprised of Mike's Famous Harley-Davidson, Mike's Warehouse Grill and the Museum of the American Road. It is the largest mixed-used retail facility in the Mid-Atlantic Region and easily accessible from all cities along the I-95 corridor. It is conveniently located at I-295 (the connector between I-95 and the New Jersey Turnpike) and Route 9 South, at the base of the Delaware Memorial Bridge, in New Castle, Delaware.
